The Last Few Days and Something Profound

Haven't posted since Monday morning, so here goes:

On Monday I noticed that when I am watching TV I spend a lot of time watching nothing. By this I mean that I channel surf a lot while looking for something to watch. For instance I spent a little over an hour on Monday watching nothing just surfing. Well that's my one profound thought for the month, I promise to have as few of these a possible.

Now on to what I actually watched while watching TV. I watched Dino Lab on the Discovery Science Channel. Cool CGI of living dinosaurs being tested in a laboratory. I watched a DVR recording of Stargate SG-1 episode Need. I always wondered why they never use the sarcophagus (pictured on left) more in SG-1. I mean you have this piece of alien technology that basically heals any injury and bring the recently deceased back from the dead, would this be a nice thing to keep handy? But, it turns out, those who use it become mentally unhinged. Clever way of writing the sarcophagus out of the show, it would have been easy to keep it around and use it anytime one of the characters got injured. I also watched half an episode (That's Lobstertainment) of Futurama.


On Tuesday I watched to DVR recordings of Stargate SG-1 episodes; Politics and Within the Serpents Grasp. Politics was basically a clip show of the first season. I watched Dancing With The Stars, but it just was not the same with out Sara. I ended Tuesday evening by watching The Planets on the Science Channel as I went to sleep.


On Wednesday I woke up early and happened to catch the last half of Young Frankenstein. The rest of the day I watched the documentary, Dust to Glory on Showtime, about the Baja 1000. South Park on Comedy Central, and a DVR recording of the nights episode of Lost. I started to watch an episode of SG-1 but fell asleep about five minutes into it so I will have to watch it another time.


Got up extra early on Thursday (4:30am) and could not get to sleep so I watched Barbarians on the History Channel and what may possibly be the worst movie ever, Showdown, on HBO Zone. I was fortunate to only get to see the last 20 minutes. What caught my attention about this movie was the fact that it was starring Billy Blanks, yes THAT Billy Blanks, can you guess his character's name....BILLY and a karate teacher, quite a stretch. This was basically a complete rip-off of Karate Kid, except this sucked.

Weekend Watching

I was able to watch quite a bit of TV over the weekend. Here it is:

On Friday night I watched a DVR recording of the evenings Battlestar Galactica.

Saturday I watched the first half hour of the movie Antz. An episode of the British comedy Are You Being Served? on PBS. After that I watched a DVR recording of the Stargate SG-1 episode Gamekeeper. This episode guest starred Dwight Schultz. He is a fine actor and did a very good job as the keeper but this is by far the stupidest episode of SG-1 that I have ever seen. So after watching that dismal episode of SG-1 you would think that I learned my lesson and watched some quality programing, no not I, I watched the Battlefield Earth, winner of 7 Golden Raspberry awards including Worst Picture and Worst Actor(John Travolta) in 2000, on HBO On-Demand. If it wouldn't have been for Travolta's overacting this might have been a halfway decent flick, but he took his character way over the top. Now in my defense I could only watch half of it on Saturday night because it was putting me to sleep, I had to finish watching it on Sunday. As I was going to bed on Saturday night put on the History Channel and fell asleep watching Standing Tall at Auschwitz about a family of dwarfs survived at Auschwitz with the help of Dr. Death, Josef Mengele.

Sunday I watched the NFL: I watched the Falcons beat the Steelers and the first 3 quarters of the Colts beating the Redskins.

After football I saw bit and pieces of a couple of movies: Just Friends and Mr. & Mrs. Smith, I have seen all of Mr. & Mrs. Smith before but this was the first that I had seen any of Just Friends. Just Friends is also on HBO On-Demand this week so I may take the time and watch all of it. I finished off the evening by watching the first 3 episodes Lost that I have been recording on the DVR.

Last Few Days

Well here is what I have been watching the last several days.

On Wednesday night I watched a DVR recording of Stargate SG-1, Prisoners. In this episode the introduced a character called the "Destroyer of Worlds" but I don't ever recall her character ever reappearing, only mentioned in passing. What's up with that?

I watched half of a Futurama episode (Parasite Lost) off of the DVR, until another Futurama episode (Luck of the Fryish) came on Cartoon Network, which I fell asleep watching, but I set the DVR to record it and I the end of both on Thursday night. Luck of the Fryish is probably my favorite episode for a weird reason. Somehow I had never seen this episode after watching Futurama for years, but on the day that my father passed away I came home from the hospital and settled down to watch an episode of Futurama to help cheer me up, and lo and behold this episode came on, the only episode that I had never seen. Corny, huh. Another great thing about this episode is that we learn that Bender's full name is Bender Bending Rodriguez.

Thursday I watched Survivor, great girl on girl action during the challenge, check out Jessica and Becky dragging Christina in the photo on the left. I watched CSI, Futurama (Bendless Love) on Cartoon Network, and a DVR recording of the nights My Name is Earl episode.

And so far today I watched the last half hour of Dreamer: Inspired by a True Story on HBO with my wife.

The Rest of Tuesday

After watching Sara on Dancing with the stars, I watch an episode of SG-1(In the Line of Duty) from the DVR and an episode of Futurama on Cartoon Network (Amazon Women in the Mood).

Problems in the Craig Club

Just watched Sara Evans interview on Dancing with the Stars, I was glad to hear that she may be back for the finale, but I have determined that her husband is giving Craigs everywhere a bad name. It is my belief that we Craigs of the world need to come together and boot him out of the Craig Club.

I also have a special message just for Sara:

Sara,
Please don't let the actions of one Craig sully the reputations of Craigs from around the world. We are all not porn watching, adulterating sleaze balls. Spend some time with some other Craigs (particularly me) and let us show you that we are good people.

On Monday

I watched the rest of the Stargate SG-1 episode that I fell asleep through a couple of days ago. I watched a second episode of SG-1, There but for the Grace of God. I also watched an episode of Futurama (My Problem of Popplers) on Cartoon Network.

Weekend of little TV

Didn't watch anything on Friday or Saturday, I was either working or at some wedding related function for a friend of mine.

On Sunday the Ravens and the Redskins were playing at the same time, so I recorded the Redskins on the DVR, which as it turns out was a waste of time since they lost to the Titans of all people. Watching the Ravens was also a waste since they lost to the Panthers.

I also watched part of the Incredibles on Encore.

More football Sunday as I watched the Broncos beat the Raiders.

Before I went to bed for the evening I watched last Friday's episode of Battlestar Galactica that I recorded with the DVR. Now, I am not a huge fan of Edward James Olmos's work but he is excellent as Admiral Adama, much better than Lorne Greene.

Oh my God, I cannot believe it

I have good news and bad news.
The bad news first; it saddens me to report that Sara Evans has quit Dancing with the Stars.
Now for the good news; she has filed for divorce, so she will be available soon.

Thursday night

Thursdays are wonderful because it is nonstop TV all night. I started off the evening with Survivor, well I only saw the second half but it was still great, the tattooed chick, Jessica, is strangely attractive (check her out walking on poles to the left).

I watched a very good CSI where Greg took a beating and Mr. Britney Spears guest starred. Another beating took place on ER, it was Dr. Morris at the hands of a lesbian.

I watched My Name is Earl that I recorded on the DVR. Amy Sedaris was a guest star. She is one of the funniest people in the world. I loved her show Strangers with Candy on Comedy Central, it was a shame that it was cancelled.

I fell asleep watching a DVR of Stargate SG-1 (Tin Man), I will have to finish watching it at another time.

What a week

It's been four days since I posted and I have not watched much TV, so I will dazzle you with images.

On Monday I watched the Broncos beat the Ravens on Monday Night Football.

Tuesday I only watched Sara Evans dance on Dancing with the Stars that I recorded on the DVR. I was happy the she was not voted off on Wednesday.


On Wednesday I watched a DVR recording of the season premier of Battlestar Galactica. I was happy to see that Lucy Lawless is on the show, and she looks much different than she did on Xena. Look for yourself below.

Wasted Weekend

This weekend was a total bust. On Saturday I watched Alien Resurrection as I went to bed, this is actually a good movie in the Alien series.

Sunday was another NFL Sunday. I watched the Redskins lose to the Giants, I watched the Eagles beat the Cowboys and I watched the Chargers beat the Steelers.

I also watched, If We Had No Moon which I recorded off of the Discovery Science Channel. It wasn't the best documentary I have seen but it was narrated by Patrick Stewart, so it had that going for it.

Friday night movies

Didn't watch much last night, only 2 movies on DVD:

The Lake House. I didn't particularly want to watch this one but my wife wanted to watch it, but I was pleasantly surprised by it. Sandra Bullock was hot as ever, and Keanu Reeves was ok, I still believe that his best work was Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure.

The other movie was Poseidon. Not as good a as the original Poseidon Adventure, but any movie where Emmy Rossum is constantly wet, has to be good.

Thursday ends with a drag queen

I watched part of an episode of Star Trek: The Next Generation (A Matter of Perspective) Riker needs to stay away from loose alien women, they always seem to get him in to trouble.

I went over to my Brother-in-laws house and ended up watching an episode of the Simpsons (Homer vs. Lisa and the 8^th commandment) with his kids. Got home and watched Survivor, CSI, and ER. After ER I watched a recording of tonight's episode of My Name is Earl, great episode with many freaks.

If you missed ER, than you missed Frasier's dad John Mahoney in drag, it's hard to get that image out of my mind. I guess I will need to get the eye bleach!

Even though I thought she danced poorly, I was glad to see her make it through to dance again next week.

New Hotness!!

I watched Battlestar Galactica: The Story so far, a recapping of the first two seasons of Battlestar Galactica on the Sci-Fi Channel. I am looking forward to the new season even though I have not been a regular viewer. On Friday Sci-fi is showing past episodes all day, so I have the DVR set.

I am sure that some people were upset that they made Starbuck a woman in the new series, but as you can see from the pictures above they made the right choice.

I watched the season premier of South Park on Comedy Central and an episode of Futurama (Brannigan, Begin Again) on Cartoon Network.

Great quote from tonight's Futurama:

Tuesday Night

Tuesday, of course I watched Dancing with the Stars, you would know that if you read any of my previous posts. I watched Two-a-Days on MTV, I am not sure if I like this show yet, I remember when MTV used to show music videos.

I watched an Episode of Stargate SG-1 that I recorded on the DVR, it was another of the weaker episodes, Cor-ai, another episode with Teal'c being all brooding.

I also watched a classic episode of Futurama, Fry and the Slurm Factory. It is a total rip off of Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory but it is a great episode.

I couldn't do it.

I couldn't bring myself to vote for Sara Evans last night, I thought that she was the worst one last night. I am hopeful that she will make it through but she may well be sent home tonight.

Catching Up

Been several days since I posted, so here is an update on what I have watched since then. On Saturday night I watched a little bit of college football and half of a Mythbuters episode on the Discovery Channel. I also watched Cannibal: The real Hannibal Lecters on HBO On-Demand. I went ot bed while watching Line of Fire: Austerlitz 1805 on the History International channel.

On Sunday I watched a lot of NFL football. I watched the Ravens beat the Chargers and then the Redskins beat the Jaguars.

I watched part of Batman Begins. I like this Batman movie better than most of the others. I would rank them like this:

1. Batman Begins (I prefer the Dark Knight version of Batman)
   
2. Batman Forever (Val Kilmer was the best Batman)
   
3. Batman
4. Batman Returns
5. Batman and Robin (George Clooney was the worst batman) This was probably the worst movie I've ever seen in my life. It was the only movie I actually consider leaving the theater because it sucked.

I watched Family Guy on FOX, the song about the FCC was fantastic, if you haven't seen it you should. After that I watched some of the Blitz on ESPNEWS. Then before I went to be on Sunday night I watched a show about The Death Star on the Discovery Sciene Channel, it was about gamma ray bursts. Is it just me or do gamma ray bursts freak anyone else out?


Monday morning I got up and watched about a half hour of the Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers Movie. I was hoping to see the scene with the chick in the green bikini, but I was too late. That was the best part of the movie, they probably added her to the film to get the attention of all of the fathers who were there with their kids. After I realized that I had missed her scene, I switched over to the Discovery Science channel and watched a repeat of the show about gamma ray bursts.

Monday night I watched a couple episodes of Futurama: A Flight to Remeber and Mars University. Here are a couple of great quotes from A Flight to Remember:

More about last night

I didn't get to watch as much as I would have liked last night. I watched two episodes of Stargate SG-1 I recorded on DVR: 48 Hours and Solitudes. 48 Hours was the first introduction of Dr. McKay to the Stargate universe, he was even more annoying in this episode than he is on Stargate Atlantis.

I watched an episode of South Park and the first half of Dogma on Comedy Central.

Quick update

Haven't got a chance to watch too much so far today, here it is...I watched bit and pieces of a few old British comedies on PBS, I started watching the beginning of an old SG-1 episode, and I watched half of an episode on Grey's Anatomy the my wife recorded.

A few things

A few things from last night. Another good episode of Survivor, the 4 team were merged into two teams. I think the Yul will win it all, unless his decision to tell Becky that he found the immunity idol on exile island comes around to bite him in the ass. After survivor I watched CSI, what is happening with Grissom and Sara they kind of just forgot about that after last season's finale.

I also watched the last half hour of The Mummy on FX and ended my night by falling asleep while watching Futurama again on Cartoon Network.

Not Much Last Night

Didn't get a chance to watch much on TV last night. I watched two shows off of the DVR. I watched the season 1&2 recap of Lost and an episode of Stargate SG-1, Enigma.

I haven't seen all of the 2nd season of lost so I was grateful to have a recap, now I can watch season 3 right away without waiting until I get a chance to see season 2 on DVD

Sara survives another week

I wasn't able to watch Dancing with the Stars tonight, but I just got the word that Sara Evans made it through to next week. Way to go Sara!

Wild Amish Parties

I watched a documentary on DVD about amish teenagers and how on their 16th birthdays they are allowed to basically go wild. They can drive, smoke, drink, screw (not necessarily in that order) and do anything that the "English" teenagers do. Only the Amish kick it up a notch or two. Devil's Playground is the title, it was originally made for PBS, so you can probably find a copy at your local library.

Their is also a book entitled Rumspringa: To be or not to be Amish by Tom Shachtman. It expands on the documentary.

Last night

As you can tell from my two previous posts I watched Dancing With the Stars (ABC). I also watched an Episode of Stargate SG-1 (Sci-Fi) that I recorded, episode Absolute Power, not the best episode I have ever seen, probably the worst.

I also watched a great episode of Futurama (Cartoon Network), Love's Labors Lost in Space. It was the first appearance of Zapp Brannigan. There were some great quotes from tonight's episode"

What I Watched on Monday

DVD of Ultraviolet (pg-13 theatrical version) I am a big Fan of Milla Jovovich (pictured left), but this movie was less than thrilling. I am not going to pass final judgement on it until I see the unrated extended cut. From what I have read on the internet the movie studio did a real hack job on the editing and cut out quite a bit.

One of my favorite movies of all time stars Milla, The Fifth Element. If you haven’t seen it, please rush to your local video store or library, you won’t be disappointed. Also get your hands on a copy of her album The Divine Comedy, quite mesmerizing.

I really enjoyed the performances by U2 and Green Day during the Monday Night Countdown on ESPN. After watching those festivities at the Superdome their was no way the Saints were going to lose.

Watched a couple more Stargate SG-1 episodes the I recorded, Company of Thieves, and Flesh & Blood

Rounded out the night by watching Futurama (Cartoon Network) and falling asleep watching Monday Night Football (ESPN)

Sunday most of the day was spent watching NFL. I watched the Washington Redskins beat the Houston Texans (well I slept through most of this game). I also watched the Baltimore Ravens beat the Cleveland Browns.

I watched the Simpsons, American Dad, and Family guy on FOX.

I watched an episode of Futurama on the Cartoon Network, The Blitz on ESPNEWS.

Stargate SG-1 episode The Quest part 1. I think that the the episodes with Ben Browder and Claudia black are among the best SG-1 episode. When I first saw them I thought that the show was going to turn into a lame rehashing of Farscape. These episodes are fresh exciting and best of all no Richard Dean Anderson phoning it in. Plus Claudia Black is easy on the eyes.

Tim Burton and Teeth

Watched Charlie and the Chocolate Factory today at 12:00pm on HBO Family. I prefer the Johnny Depp version to the Gene Wilder version. As I was watching I was beginning to wonder what Burton's fascination with teeth is. Teeth are featured prominently in the film. Wonka has the biggest white teeth in a movie since Matt Dillion in "There's Something About Mary." Other instances in which teeth were featured: Mrs Bucket (Helena Bonham Carter) has large teeth; Young Willy in headgear; Wilbur Wonka is a dentist; and the very sexy Missy Pyle, as Mrs. Beauregarde, has a close up of her teeth covered in cherries.

What I watched last night.

Thurday night was a great night for TV. I watched Survivor (CBS) at 8pm, CSI (CBS) at 9pm, ER (NBC) at 10pm and then topped off the evening with Futurama (Cartoon Network) at 11pm.

The Asian team will be the team to beat on Survivor. Was is just me or did anyone else's creepy factor go up when Billy started talking about being in love with Candice.

What the F?

My wife says I watch too much TV. I on the other hand would say that with the ever increasing cable television bill I am only trying to get my monies worth. Who is right? In an effort to see if I am obsessed with TV, I am going to keep track of everything I watch on broadcast and cable television. I will also post TV related tidbits as the mood strikes me.
